Frequently Asked Questions
Who are you?
Some students at the Department of Architecture at Strathclyde University, Glasgow.
Convenientbenches? What?
It’s a rather obscure reference to the title of an essay by the well known architectural critic Reyner Banham entitled “Convenient Benches & Handy Hooks”. Also, it sounds cool.
So what do you post exactly?
Anything that has a link to the department or Glasgow in an architectural sense. Articles, photographs, student work etc.
Can I submit my own project or a photograph or piece of writing?
Yes — we always want submissions! Just make sure that you include any credits for images/work you submit if it is not your own. Just no pictures of your cat dressed as your favourite architect please.
How can I submit?
See that link on the left, ‘Submit Content’, aye, there. Either that or you can email us directly, as it says on the submission page, at arch-webspace[at]strath.ac.uk.*
*replace the [at] with an @, this is just to prevent spam bots from using our email.
Are there any limits on image size etc?
Not as such but please don’t send 100mb .psd or pdf files! JPG is perfect at 72DPI. Photoshop has a ‘save for web’ function which is useful for this sort of thing. As for videos you can upload them to Youtube or Vimeo and send us the direct link. Writing can be plain text or a word doc but please attach any images separately (and with captions and appropriate credits).
